Dominador “Danny” Mangonon, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 9, 1942, in Manaoag, Pangasinan, Philippines, Dominador was the beloved son of Dominador and Lourdes Mangonon. He was born and raised in the Philippines, where he spent his childhood and early adult life, before immigrating to America and settling in New Jersey. 

Known to friends and family as “Danny” or “Tito Dan,” and affectionately, by his children and grandchildren as “Daddy” and “Papa,” he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Together with his wife, Mariebel, he was a constant presence and cherished source of advice, support, and unconditional love. He took tremendous pride in his children, and for them, he was a model of responsibility, patience, and understanding. Even in challenging times, his generosity never wavered, and he was consistently the rock others relied upon. His selfless nature, thoughtful demeanor, and easy-going spirit set the standard for how to navigate the world with kindness and integrity—a legacy that lives on in his children and every life he touched. 

Those who knew Danny admired his intelligence, curious intellect, and insatiable desire to stay informed about the world around him. An avid reader and lifelong learner, he devoured newspapers, books, and articles on virtually any subject that sparked his interest, and followed current events, global affairs, and politics with deep enthusiasm and an empathetic heart. He had a remarkable ability to engage in meaningful conversation and was always eager to learn something new or share an interesting perspective.

His lifelong love of travel, first cultivated during his years with Philippine Airlines, remained one of his greatest passions and gave him an appreciation for the richness and diversity of the world.

Above all else, Danny found incredible joy in his grandchildren. He was a fixture in their lives and treasured every moment spent watching them grow. Whether sharing stories, offering words of wisdom, or simply enjoying their company, the love he had for them was evident in everything he did. The memories they created together—from family gatherings, to trips down the shore, to summer days at the pool—will never be forgotten.

Danny is survived by his beloved children, Dominic Mangonon; Regina Gardiner and her husband, Blair; Rebecca Myklusch and her husband, Matt; and Mai Mangonon-Gavar and her husband, Miguel. He is also lovingly survived by his cherished grandchildren, John Gardiner, Jack and Dean Myklusch, and his sisters Lourdes “Nora” Mangonon, Zenaida “Naty” Mangonon, and Aurora “Mina” Montenegro, and his brother-in-law, Jun, as well as many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, wisdom, and friendship. He was preceded in death by his wife Mariebel and his sister Teresita “Tita” Mangonon.

Family and friends will forever remember Danny as a man whose endless love and devotion to his family defined a rich and exceptionally well lived life.

A memorial service to celebrate Danny’s life will be held on August 22, 2026.
