Paul Scavuzzo Obituary

Paul Scavuzzo, 93, of Millington, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026.

Born in Gibellina, Sicily, Italy, on January 1, 1933, Paul was the beloved son of Vincenzo and Antoinette (Paride) Scavuzzo. He spent his childhood in Italy, where he developed the strong values of faith, family, and hard work that would guide him throughout his life. Proud of his homeland, Paul faithfully served in the Italian Army before beginning the next chapter of his life.

At the age of 27, Paul and his beloved wife immigrated to the United States in search of new opportunities and a brighter future. They first made their home in Newark, New Jersey, before settling in Union, where they lived for 42 wonderful years while raising their family. For the past 15 years, Paul had been a resident of Millington, New Jersey.

Paul possessed an incredible work ethic and was deeply committed to providing for his family. He began his career in the United States with Economy Bookbinding in Kearny, New Jersey, where he worked alongside his brother for many years. Later, he became the longtime manager of Joe's Pizzeria in Vauxhall, New Jersey, where his warm personality, leadership, and dedication earned him the respect of coworkers, customers, and friends alike.

His Catholic faith remained at the center of his life. While living in Union, Paul was a devoted parishioner of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church and proudly served as a Third Degree Knight of Columbus. After moving to Millington, he became a faithful member of Our Lady of the Mount Roman Catholic Church. One of the most meaningful moments of his later years was celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary by renewing his marriage vows there with his beloved wife, a cherished memory that reflected the enduring love they shared.

Outside of work, Paul found great joy in working with his hands. He took tremendous pride in tending his vegetable garden and could often be found nurturing tomatoes, peppers, and other vegetables with the same care he gave to everything he loved. A gifted woodworker, Paul enjoyed building beautiful furniture for his family. One of his proudest projects was creating a custom entertainment center for his daughter when she was young. He also delighted in crafting elaborate wooden birdhouses that resembled charming little apartment buildings, each one carefully designed and built with patience, creativity, and remarkable attention to detail.

Above all else, Paul treasured his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend whose quiet strength, generous heart, and unwavering love left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Whether sharing stories around the dinner table, working in his garden, or simply spending time with those he loved most, Paul found his greatest happiness in the company of his family.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Vincenzo and Antoinette Scavuzzo; his sister, Vincenza and her husband, Frank; his brother, Joseph and his wife, Lena; and his brother, Salvatore.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Giovanna Scavuzzo; his loving daughter, Antonietta Corigliano and her husband, John; his cherished granddaughter, Nicolette Corigliano; his sister-in-law, Angelica Scavuzzo; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Paul's legacy is one of faith, humility, hard work, and unconditional love. The sacrifices he made, the values he instilled, and the example he set will continue to live on through the generations of family who were blessed to know and love him.
