Thurman A. Webb was born on June 28th, 1937, in Oxford, North Carolina, to the late Michael and Julia Webb. He spent his early childhood in Oxford before moving to New Jersey at the age of 16. Over the years, Thurman lived in Newark, East Orange, and Plainfield before ultimately settling in Lakewood, where he happily made his home for more than 25 years.

A dedicated and deeply hardworking man, Thurman spent many years employed by Standard Tallow and Darling International Inc. He began his career as a truck driver and, through an unwavering work ethic and commitment, worked his way up to become a maintenance supervisor. Thurman was widely admired by colleagues and friends alike for his dependability, fierce determination, and constant willingness to do whatever was needed to support others.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Thurman possessed a remarkable green thumb and took immense pride in his home. Whether he was fishing, tending his bountiful vegetable garden, or meticulously keeping his yard, his independent spirit was always on display—he even continued to mow his own lawn until shortly before his passing. Indoors, Thurman loved nothing more than relaxing in his favorite recliner to watch sports or a classic Western. He also found deep comfort in the quiet routine of caring for his pet fish and birds.

Above all else, Thurman cherished his family. He loved nothing more than welcoming his large family into his home, entertaining those he loved, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations. His house was the ultimate gathering place—always filled with warmth, laughter, and the lively company of extended family and dear friends.

Thurman is predeceased by his son, Torin Webb, his daughter, Monica Garrett, his brothers, James, Michael and George; and his sisters, Anne, Maryhelen, Eugene, and Virgie Lee.

His legacy of hard work lives on through his survivors, including his beloved wife, Jean Webb; his sons, Tony (Angela), Gregory (Lynette), and Eric Webb; and two stepsons; Stanton (Dana) and Rodney (Kim). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren; Toni (Daquan), Corey (Kenya), Terrell, Safiyyah (Lemuel), Chloe (Joshua), Ahmid, Ciarra (Jeffrey), Rodney Jr, and Amayah; as well as his great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew and loved him as "Papa." Thurman also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, as well as extended family members, and loving friends who will miss him dearly.

Cremation services will be held privately. To honor his memory, the family plans to host a celebration of life dinner in Thurman’s honor at a later date.
