Carmel Joan Lo Giudice

Carmel Joan Lo Giudice, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Born on April 16, 1932, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Carmel was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary Del Monte. She was born and raised in Jersey City and remained there for most of her life before moving to Bridgewater in 2001, where she resided until her passing.

Prior to her marriage, Carmel worked for Westinghouse in Jersey City in its elevator division, where she held a clerical position. Following her marriage to the love of her life, Carmelo, Carmel devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising their family and caring for their home.

A woman of deep faith, Carmel was a devoted Catholic throughout her life. She was an active parishioner of St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Jersey City, where she regularly attended Mass, volunteered her time, and especially enjoyed participating in the parish bingo.

Above all else, Carmel’s life centered around her family. Raising her three sons was her greatest joy, and as her family grew, that same devotion naturally extended to her grandchildren. She took great pride in keeping up with their lives, hearing about their accomplishments, and remaining closely connected to them.

Carmel was also an exceptional cook, and some of her family’s fondest memories were created around her table. She loved hosting holidays and family gatherings and was happiest when everyone was together at home. For Carmel, there was simply nowhere she would rather be during the holidays than surrounded by the people she loved.

Following the passing of her beloved husband, Carmelo, in 2011, Carmel demonstrated a remarkable strength and resilience. Carmelo had always handled many of the household finances, and at the age of 80, Carmel suddenly found herself learning to manage bills, write checks, and take care of responsibilities that were entirely new to her. She approached it all with determination and confidence, quickly becoming completely self-reliant. Her family greatly admired the independence she maintained in the years that followed. Strong-willed, capable, and fiercely independent, Carmel continued living on her own and managing her life well into her 90s.

Carmel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Carmelo Lo Giudice, in 2011, as well as her brothers, Salvatore Del Monte Jr. and Robert Del Monte.

She is survived by her three devoted sons, Dean Lo Giudice and his wife, Valentina; Robert Lo Giudice and his wife, Susan; and John Lo Giudice and his wife, Fran; and her five cherished grandchildren, Ariana, Robert, Carmelo, Joseph, and Anthony.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne's RC Church in Jersey City on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 11 am.
