Obituary of Dorothy Greenfield

Dorothy Greenfield, age 91, died on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Regency Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Somerset. Mrs. Greenfield was born in New York and grew up in Brooklyn. She moved to New Jersey in 1955, briefly living in Plainfield and then moving to South Plainfield. She was a member of Temple Beth El in Plainfield and was also a member of B'Nai Brith Women. Mrs. Greenfield was the past President and longtime member of the Plainfield area Deborah Hospital Foundation. Predeceased by her first husband, Philip W. Ben'Ary in 1950, She was recently predeceased by her second husband, Edward Greenfield in 1994; as well as a brother, Howard Mandel and two sisters Mildred Rapaport and Florence Teichman. She is survived by her son, Jay Stephen Ben'Ary and his wife, Adele of Berkeley Heights; her daughters, Karen Ben'Ary of Bridgewater and Marian Greenfield of South Plainfield; two sisters, Shirley Kohen and Marian Slepian; her grandchildren, Michael Ben'Ary and his wife, Megan and Marissa Ben'Ary and a great-granddaughter, Grace Ben'Ary. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and their children. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 11:00 am at Higgins Home For Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield, NJ.
