Obituary of Catherine D Gross

Basking Ridge: Catherine D. Gross, 91, of Basking Ridge, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 2010, after a brief illness. Prior to moving to Basking Ridge, Mrs. Gross resided in Warren, NJ, for over 41 years and maintained a summer home in Ocean City, NJ. Born in Philadelphia on June 28, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine Farley. Mrs. Gross was a past president of the Rosary Society at Our Lady of the Mount in Warren and a member of the Missionary Cenacle Apostolate group at St. Joseph Shrine in Stirling. She was also active in her summer parish, often arranging flowers at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Ocean City. She was the beloved wife for 61 years of the late William J. Gross, who died in 2004. Surviving are her three sons, William, John and Kenneth and his wife Jacqueline, and daughter, Kathleen Roberts, six grandchildren, Christopher, John, Coreen, Courtney, Catherine Elizabeth Somers and her husband, Scott and Nicole Pryor and her husband, Jason and two beloved great grandchildren Matthew and Dillon Somers. Her family gave her such joy and happiness. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation in her memory to the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, St. Teresa's Motherhouse, 600 Woods Road, Germantown, NY 12526. A funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel in Warren on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. followed by the interment at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery, Watchung.
