Obituary of Virginia Claire McKenna

Virginia Claire McKenna, 68, died Friday, June 3, 2011 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she moved to North Plainfield 41 years ago. Claire was active at Mount St. Mary House of Prayer in Watchung, was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. Luke's Parish in North Plainfield and also was Past President of FISH in North Plainfield. She enjoyed gardening, reading, loved to travel and especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren. Her sisters Miriam Higgins and Mary Pat Murphy predeceased her. Surviving are her husband, Gerard F. McKenna; three sons, Gerard and his wife Amy McKenna of Scotch Plains, Dan and his wife Amy and Thomas and his wife Esther McKenna, all of Flemington; two daughters, Maureen and her husband Allen Tanko and Eileen and her husband Stanley Zwolak, all of Green Brook; three brothers, Michael Cusack of Brooklyn, John Cusack of Sewell Twp. and Paul Cusack of Atlantic Highlands and one sister Regina Cusack of Queens. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Joseph, Christine, Matthew, Stephen, Ryan, Kacie, Kellie, Mary and Peter. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 9:15 am from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by a 10 am Mass of Resurrection at St. Luke's R.C. Church in North Plainfield and interment at St. Mary Stony Hill Cemetery in Watchung. Visitation Tuesday from 5-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mount St. Mary House of Prayer, 1651 US Highway 22, Watchung, NJ 07069 would be deeply appreciated.
