Obituary of Virginia Troeger

Author, librarian, local historian BASKING RIDGE: Virginia Bergen Troeger died on July 27, 2011 from cancer. Born in 1932, Virginia grew up in Woodbridge. She received a bachelor's degree from Goucher College and a master's from Kean University. She raised her family in Berkeley Heights, and moved to Fellowship Village, Basking Ridge four years ago. She was married to Walter Troeger for 44 years until his death in 2002. Virginia retired from Mountain Park School, Berkeley Heights in 1997 where she was librarian for 18 years. In retirement she pursued an interest in writing and local history and published a number of books and articles, including local history books on Berkeley Heights and Woodbridge in the popular "Images of America" series. She was an active member of All Saints Church, Millington. She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Gullikson (Eric) of Oakland, CA, Janice Lettieri (Ernest) of Millington, NJ, and Joanne Lavender (Scott) also of Millington. She was the loving grandmother of ten grandchildren: Julia and Linnea Gullikson, Trevor, Jasmine and Keriann Lettieri, and James, Leah, Martina, Raymond and Catherine Lavender. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 3-6 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 12:30 pm at All Saints Church, Millington.
