Obituary of Joan H. Lynch

With deep respect, we honor the life of Joan H. Lynch, who, at the age of 90, peacefully passed away on July 5, 2023, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerville, NJ.

Joan, a native of Brooklyn, resided in various places throughout her life, including the Nosenzo Pond section of West Milford. She spent her married life with Vincent P. Lynch in New Providence, Fanwood, and then Connecticut before their retirement brought them to Pennington, NJ. In 2018, following the loss of her beloved husband, she moved to Warren, NJ.

A devoted Catholic, Joan was once a member of St. Bartholomew’s RC Church in Scotch Plains and St. Anne’s RC Church in Pennington. Her hobbies ranged from crocheting and solving crossword puzzles to using an iPad to keep in touch with her family. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joan is predeceased by her husband, Vincent P. Lynch, in 2018, and her brother, Frank Grasso.

She is survived by her three children, Kathy Schreck and her husband Mike; Brian Lynch and his wife Jennifer; and Patty Finer and her husband Bob; eight grandchildren, Lauren, Steven, Robbie, Michael and his wife Ashley, Peter and his wife Allyssa, Evan and his wife Heather, Emma, and Andrew. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Mikey, Charlie, Olivia, and Madison.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 9 to 10 am at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel, 167 Mt. Bethel Rd., Warren, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am at the same location. Joan will be laid to rest at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
