Obituary of Bernard H. Hayden Jr.

Bernard H. Hayden Jr., affectionately known as "Bubby" since his childhood by his loving sister Marilyn, aged 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 8, 2023, in the comfort of his home in Plainfield. A lifelong resident of this warm community, Bernard lived a life full of accomplishments and joys.

His younger years were marked by exciting travels across the United States as a traveling salesman, a journey that allowed him to experience the vast diversity of our great nation. Bernard later dedicated 30 years of his life to serving the community through his role as a lineman at PSE&G utility company.

His friends and coworkers affectionately knew him as "Bear", a nickname inspired by his large, bushy beard that he wore with pride. He had an artistic streak and often enjoyed sketching superheroes, a testament to his youthful spirit. A dedicated fan of film and music, Bernard cherished the movie "Tombstone" and held a special fondness for the music of The Temptations.

Remembered for his kind and sweet nature, Bernard had a special place in the hearts of children. They adored him and affectionately referred to him as "Mr. B".

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard H. Hayden Sr. and Theodora Hayden, along with his siblings: Bernice King, Deborah Burroughs, and Darrell Hayden. Additionally, his nephew Brian King has also passed away.

He leaves behind his cherished son, Erik B. Fitzpatrick, loving sisters Charlotte V. Pierre and Marilyn R. Auten, treasured grandchildren Byron Restituyo and Amaya Fitzpatrick, and a precious great-grandchild, Zion Restityo.
