Obituary of Jacqueline Charnak

Jacqueline Marion Charnak, a beacon of love and nurturing, passed away peacefully at her home in Warren, New Jersey, on Monday, April 1, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on November 6, 1935, in Neptune, New Jersey, to George and Lina Haines, Jacqueline grew up in Newark and was a proud graduate of Westside High School. Before settling in Warren, she lived in Hillside, bridging her life between her childhood in Newark and her later years in Warren.

Jacqueline's journey through life was marked by her profound devotion to family and community. Since moving to Warren in 1968, she became an integral part of the Our Lady of the Mount Roman Catholic Church community, demonstrating her faith through active participation and service.

Her role as a homemaker was her pride and joy, skillfully managing her household and nurturing her seven children. Jacqueline's love knew no bounds, extending to 28 foster infants whom she cared for throughout her life, touching countless lives with her generosity and kindness.

Known for her unwavering positivity and warm heart, Jacqueline was a cherished member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Washington Valley Fire Department. Her legacy of love and selflessness will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Jacqueline was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael Charnak Jr., who passed away in 1998.

Her loving spirit lives on through her children, Kathy Jardine (Ron), Gail Colihan, Rick Bohm (Ann), Jeff Charnak (Steph), Michael Charnak (Donna), Linda Yashur (Rob), and Diane Charnak. She will also be fondly remembered by her 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Visitation for Jacqueline Marion Charnak will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 4 to 8 PM at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mount Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. A funeral mass is scheduled for Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Mount Roman Catholic  Chapel, 167 Mount Bethel Rd., Warren, NJ 07059, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Cemetery in Watchung.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Shriners Hospitals, honoring Jacqueline's end
