Obituary of Leia J. Chu

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leia J. Chu, a beloved spiritual leader, artist, and family member, who left us on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at the age of 45. Leia passed away peacefully at Morristown Memorial Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and creativity.

Born in Englewood, New Jersey, Leia spent her formative years in Pearl River, New York, before making her home in Edison and finally Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Her spiritual journey was the guiding force in her life, leading her to serve with passion and dedication in various churches. Most recently, Leia worked at King of Kings in Basking Ridge, where she ascended to the role of Children’s Pastor. Leia’s artistic talent was a blessing to many, especially evident in the murals she painted for Faith Fellowship Church in Sayreville, New Jersey—a place dear to her from her early years.

Leia had a zest for life, embracing adventures and the joy of travel, with a memorable trip to Arizona among her cherished experiences. She was a connoisseur of good food, particularly Chinese and Spanish cuisines, and her love for culinary delights was only surpassed by her love for children, especially her cherished niece Ryleigh.

Leia was predeceased by her mother, Estelle Ann Chu, and leaves behind a family who adored her: her father Ronald Chu, her brother Ryan L. Chu, and her beloved niece Ryleigh Ann Chu. Her departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew her, a testament to the depth of her kindness and the brightness of her spirit.

A visitation for Leia J. Chu will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the King of Kings Worship Center, 3575 Valley Rd., Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. A service will follow immediately at 12 PM at the church, with private cremation thereafter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Leia's life and legacy can be made to the King of Kings Worship Center. Her life was a journey of faith, love, and artistic expression, touching the lives of many and leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.

Rest in peace, dear Leia. Your memory will forever be a beacon of light and inspiration to us all.
