Ann P. Halus
Watchung: Ann P. Halus passed away peacefully on December 20, 2012 in Overlook Medical Center. She was 92.
Ann, the daughter of John and Martha Wojtowicz and sister of Helen Popko, was born in Newark, NJ.
In 1944 she married her childhood sweetheart, Ted Halus, who predeceased her in 1997. Ann and her family lived in Springfield, NJ and Watchung, NJ.
Ann was very creative in her cooking, gardening and decorating the house for all the holidays. She was an excellent cook who was known for her pierogi, stuffed cabbage and potato pancakes. Ann always made beautiful Halloween costumes for her two daughters, sewed clothes and built furniture for their dolls. When Teddy wanted to take the family ice skating, Ann taught herself how to roller skate in the basement so that she could join in on the fun. Ann always took in any homeless cats and contributed to many children's charities.
Ann is survived by her daughters Judith and her husband, George Otlowski and Janice and her husband, Kenneth Gursky.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 24th at 9:30 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by interment at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm. To send condolences, please go to www.higginsfuneralhome.com.
