Obituary of Bernhard Gebauer

Bernhard Gebauer, age 93 died on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Greenbrook Manor Nursing Home in North Plainfield. He was born in Kostenthal Germany and immigrated to the US in 1957. He lived in North Plainfield for over 40 years. Prior to his retirement in 1977, Mr. Gebauer was a machinist for his brothers business, Gebauer Knitting Mills in Warren. Following his retirement, he worked part time gardener for Rebmans Gardening Service in Watchung. Mr. Gebauer enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was a communicant of St. Josephs Church for over 20 years and also was a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in North Plainfield. Mr. Gebauer is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie Himmel Gebauer; his son Gerhard Gebauer and his wife Carol of Springfield and his sisters, Elizabeth Gebauer and Elena Brilka, both of Germany. Also surviving are his 2 grandsons, Dr. Gregory Gebauer and his wife Amy of Perry Hill, MD and Adam Gebauer of Albuquerque, NM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 461 Somerset St., North Plainfield followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Lukes RC Church in North Plainfield. Entombment will follow at St. Marys Stony Hill Mausoleum, Watchung. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to either the Alzheimers Association, Greater NJ Chapter, 400 Morris Ave, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365 or to The American Red Cross 332 West Front St., Plainfield, NJ 07060 to aid the victims of the South Asian Tsunami.
