Obituary of Angelo M. D´Amato

Angelo M. DAmato, age 81, died on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Newark Beth Israel Hospital in Newark. Mr. DAmato was born and raised in Jersey City and had raised his family in Bayonne before moving to Watchung 7 years ago. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he was a foreman for his brothers steel company, Nicholas Galvanizing in Jersey City. Mr. DAmato served in the Army during World War II in the 787th Tank Battalion and had organized many reunions of his unit. He was a communicant of St. Marys Stony Hill Church. Mr. DAmato was an avid baseball card collector. He is survived by his wife, Helen Mulligan DAmato of 52 years; his sons, William DAmato and his wife Monika, Michael DAmato and his wife Mary, and Steven DAmato and his wife Tish; his daughters, Elizabeth Korch and her husband Charles and Patricia Boman and her husband Sean; his brothers, Nicholas DAmato and James DAmato, his sisters Marie Piscitello and her husband Michael, Genevieve Giancola and her husband John. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2004 at 8:45 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung followed by a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Marys Stony Hill Church, Watchung. Interment will follow at St. Marys Stony Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and on Wednesday from 3-7 pm.
