Obituary of Francis Hawke

Francis Hawke, 80 died on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at Somerset Medical Center. He was born in Newark and had lived in Union and Warren before moving to Watchung a year and a half ago. He was a self-employed painter in Union for over 25 years. Mr. Hawke was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in Italy and Germany as a cannoneer. He was an avid Yankees fan. Mr. Hawke is survived by his wife, Evelyn Oppel Hawke; his son Russell of Dayton; his daughter Gail and her husband Joseph Begley of Cedar Run and his sisters-in-law Irene Priece of Berkeley Heights and Elfrieda Oppel of Union. Also surviving are his 3 grandchildren, Christina Vandervoort, Joseph Begley and Stacey Haykel and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held privately on Thursday, January 13, 2005 under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung followed by entombment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge.
