Obituary of Earl S. Lambert. Sr.
Earl Stanley Lambert, Sr., age 73, a retired Westfield police sergeant died on Thursday, January 13, 2005 at his home.
Born in Vauxhall to the late Harry and Olive Peniston Lambert, Sgt. Lambert was raised in Plainfield moving to Westfield 47 years ago.
Sgt. Lambert was a member of the Westfield Police Department for 25 years serving in the Traffic Safety and Narcotics divisions, he retired in 1986. He is an US Army veteran of the Korean War decorated with the Purple Heart; he was a proud member of the first integrated Army group. He was a former Sergeant at Arms for the Westfield PBA and pitched on the PBA softball Team. He was a former board member of the Westfield Community Center and was a member of the Westfield American Legion Post # 1003. He enjoyed working with wood and built model railroads and bird houses. He enjoyed sports and was an avid deep sea fisherman, and played tennis. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, and playing pinochle.
Sgt. Lambert is survived by his wife , Ernestine (Kippy) Keets Lambert; a son, Earl S. Lambert, Jr. and his wife Roslyn; a daughter, Cyriese Lambert-Downer and her husband Michael; three brothers, Howard, Harry, Jr. and Joseph Lambert; two sisters, Thelma Lambert and Margaret Vaughan; his mother-in-law, Lillian Page and five grandchildren, Jerome (Rock) Steward, Adam and Morgan Lambert, Dana and Michael Downer, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 17, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday prior to the service. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
