Obituary of Violet N. Gussis
Violet N. Gussis died on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at HCR-Manor Care in Mountainside. She was born in Kozani, Greece and moved to the United States when she was 3 years old, settling in NY City and then Staten Island. She resided in Watchung for over 50 years.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Gussis was a secretary for L.A. Dreyfus-Wrigley in Edison for 30 years.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Westfield and the Philoptochos Society. Mrs. Gussis was also a member of AARP, and the Watchung Senior Citizens.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting and knitting quilts. She loved to travel, having toured the Greek Islands and the entire United States from coast to coast and north to south. She also bowled in a league.
Mrs. Gussis is survived by her husband, Stephen G. Gussis; her son, Gordon S. Muffett of Delaware and her two daughters, Doris M. Esposito of CT and Bonnie Muffett of FL. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 from 2-4 & 7-9 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung. Church services and entombment are private. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Watchung Rescue Squad, 10 Stirling Road, Watchung, NJ 07069 or to the Childrens Specialized Hospital, 150 New Providence Rd. Mountainside, NJ 07092 would be greatly appreciated.
