Obituary of Ameriga Procino
Ameriga "Amy" Procino died Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at Runnells Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights. Born in Brooklyn, New York her family moved to Scotch Plains when she was three years old where she lived until 1940. At that time, she married Frank "Butch" Procino and settled in Watchung. They were married for 61 years until his death in 2002.
Prior to retiring in 1982, Mrs. Procino was an executive secretary at American Hoerchst.
Mrs. Procino was graduated from Scotch Plains High School in 1934. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Stony Hill Catholic Church in Watchung and was a member of the choir for over 20 years. She was also a former member of the Watchung Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening on her property in Watchung and entertaining her many friends and family.
Her son, Frank Procino, predeceased her in 1993. Surviving are one son, Louis Procino of Kissimmee, FL; one daughter, Virginia Hartmann of Cary, IL; and five grandchildren, Gabriel, Thaddeus and Beatrix Hartmann; Jay Procino and Jamie DeShay.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2005 from 8:15 to 9:15 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. followed by a 9:30 am Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church, 225 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung. Entombment will be at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery, Watchung.
