Obituary of Geraldine A Marky

Berkeley Heights: Geraldine Ann Marky, of Berkeley Heights, NJ went straight to the arms of a loving Lord when she died on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 in the John Dempsey Hospital at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, CT. Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on April 12, 1933, she was the youngest daughter of the late William and Madeline (Kopp) Marky. She lived her early life in Plainfield and North Plainfield, graduating from Holy Trinity High School in Westfield, NJ. She was employed as an Executive Assistant at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ for 45 years prior to her retirement. One of her joys in life was working at the Irish Cottage in Summit, NJ when time would allow. When able, she traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States. She read widely and had a quick and inquisitive mind, loved art music theater, dance, her pets, Irish culture and everything beautiful this world offered. She loved her faith deeply and in the last 10 years of her life, made many pilgrimages to Marian sites, including Medugorje, Venezuela and Lourdes. She opened her heart and her home to many for weekly prayer groups and so many people found comfort through her open-handed hospitality and honest sharing of her faith. But in all of the rich and complex tapestry of her life, nothing was more important to her than her family and the love she had for all of them. She was a devoted daughter; loving sister and sister-in-law; fun-loving cousin; generous aunt and great-aunt and a loyal friend. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, June (Marky) Rohrbacker and brother-in-law, Stanley Rohrbacker. She leaves to mourn, her sister and brother-in-law, Corrine and Ralph Hann of West Simsbury, CT; her first cousins, Eugene and Charlotte McMahon of Stirling, Betty Orloff of Plainfield, Joyce and James Maynard of North Plainfield, Audrey and Fred Scharnikow of Annandale, Walter and Janet Heinzer of South Plainfield, Arthur and Maggie Marky of Basking Ridge, Kendall and Rosemary McMahon of North Plainfield; her nieces and nephews, Lynn and Garry Johnson of Bridgewater, Valerie and Kevin Chambres of Kendall Park, Caroline and Ivan Stauers of Glastonbury, CT., Stanley William Rohrbacker and his fiance Amy Harvey of Livermore, CA, Sharon and Sam Johnson of Newington, CT, Lisa and Paul Hudkins of Barkhamsted, CT and Mark and Denise Hann of East Granby, CT. Her love continued on to the next generation, leaving to mourn grandnieces and grandnephews, Kristen and Andrew Hudkins, Brynna and Gretchen Johnson, Jennifer and Michael Hann, Michelle and Kelsey Johnson, Gillian Chambres and Katelynn and Lexie Rohrbacker. More people than she ever could have imagined possible will remember her with love.
