Obituary of Sr. M. Ottilia Koch, SMIC
Watchung: Sr. M. Ottilia Koch, SMIC, died on April 5, 2005 at McAuley Hall Health Care, Watchung, NJ. Sr. Ottilia was born of Heinrich and Alwine Zech Koch on March 22, 1910in Luen-Horstmar, Germany. She entered the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception on February 8, 1933 in Muenster, Germany where she made First Profession August 15, 1934. She came to the United States immediately after and was stationed in St. Bonaventure, NY 1934-1942 before going to St. Walburgas Orphanage in Roselle, NJ. She made Final Profession in St. Bonaventure, NY on August 15, 1937 and became an American citizen in 1941. She studied to become a dietician and was assigned to Holy Cross Hospital, Austin, TX; St. Walburgas Orphanage, Roselle, NJ; Immaculate Conception Convent, West Paterson, NJ; Christ the King Seminary, St. Bonaventure, NY; St. Elizabeth Hospital, Houston, TX; Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati,OH; Our Lady of Lourdes Convent, Allegany, NY; the Bishops Residence, San Angelo, TX; Holy Family Residence, West Paterson, NJ and St. Josephs Residence, Killeen, TX over her years of service.
She retired to Immaculate Conception Convent in West Paterson in 1980 and upon the sale of the Motherhouse property was assigned to St. Helens Infirmary, Denville, NJ where she was until her transfer to McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung, NJ in March 2003.
She is survived by nieces and nephews both of U.S. and Germany.
Wake services will be held at McAuley Hall Health Care Center on April 8, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 11:00a.m. Interment will be in the cemetery of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception at 44 Rifle Camp Road.
