Obituary of Jules Reifkind

Mr. Jules Reifkind, 75, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at his home. Born in New York City, he was raised in Washington, DC and resided in Florida and Rockford, IL before returning to Florida where he lived until October of 2001 when he moved to Flemington. Mr. Reifkind was employed for many years as a salesman by his families restaurant equipment supply business, Rifkind Sales Co., based in Washington, DC. He also sold property in the Bahamas and Cape Coral, FL while employed by Resorts International and Grand Bahama Realtors. Jules joined the Army in 1948 serving active duty until 1949 when he joined the Reserves. A year later, he was recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict and remained until June of 1952 when he returned to Reserve duty, which he continued until 1962. Mr. Reifkind was an active longtime member of the Jewish War Veterans, having served as a Past Commander in Washington, DC for two years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Paralyzed Veterans, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Reifkind was a devoted family man who enjoyed working and boating. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Libby L. Kramer Reifkind, a daughter Stephanie and her husband Rabbi Jeffrey Kahn of Warren; a son, Mark and his wife Tracy Reifkind of San Jose, CA; three grandchildren, James and his wife Paula Kahn of Boston, Josh Kahn of Israel and Gabriel Reifkind of CA; a niece, Shelley and her husband Richard Lundy; two nephews, Eliot and his wife Sandy Reifkind and Bernard Reifkind and his wife Dr. Sandy Landen and four first cousins, Harold and his wife Terri Gans and Sidney and his wife Gerti Ginsberg, Jerry Wexler and Sybil Cohn. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 8, 2005 at 11:30 am at Temple Har Shalom, 104 Mt. Horeb Rd., Warren, with Rabbi Jeffrey Kahn officiating, followed by interment with military honors at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Donations in his memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 6350 North Andrews Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309 would be deeply appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of the Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung.
