Obituary of Dolores L. Silsby
Dolores Lorenzoni Silsby, age 91, died on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at her daughter's home in Kenilworth.
Born in Effingham, IL to the late Guido Lorenzoni and Julia Gabardi, Mrs. Silsby had lived in Plainfield for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Silsby received her Bachelor's degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in Philadelphia, PA in 1934. She was a communicant of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Plainfield, a member of their Rosary Society and taught CCD classes. She was a long-time volunteer at the Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield and a member of their hospital auxiliary. She also was a member of the Laurel League in Plainfield and the Washington Rock Girl Scout Council for many years and an avid bridge player.
Mrs. Silsby is predeceased by her husband, J. Norman Silsby in 1985.
She is survived by her two daughters, Verna Gray and Mary Hatfield both of Kenilworth; two sons, John N. Silsby, Jr. and his wife Gertrude of Toms River, Richard G. Silsby and his wife Jean of Bloomfield; one sister Verna Holland of Dearborne Hts., Michigan, her niece, Anne and nephew, Michael. Six grandchildren, Margaret, Robert, Christina, Martha, Richard and Jeffrey and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 9th at 9 a.m. from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Mary R.C. Church, Plainfield. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
