Obituary of Maria DeFilippis

Maria Mastrobattista DeFilippis, age 80, died on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Born in Unionville, CT then at the age of 7, Marias family moved to Lenola, Italy where she grew up surviving W.W.II. She met her husband Orlando and in 1953 followed him to Brazil. She completed her journey back to the United States in 1965 to raise her five children in North Plainfield. Communicant of St. Joseph R.C. Church. She loved cooking for her family and singing to her grandchildren. Mrs. DeFilippis is predeceased by her husband, Orlando DeFilippis and their granddaughter, Cristina Cirillo. She is survived by 3 sons, Paolo DeFilippis and his wife Martha of Brazil; Antonio DeFilippis and his wife Kim of Andover and Marco DeFilippis and his wife Janet of Andover; 2 daughters, Celeste Cirillo and her husband Antonio of North Plainfield and Norma Scott and her husband Michael of Bedminster; 3 brothers, Guiseppe, Antonio and Luigi Mastrobattista; and 3 sisters, Concetta DeFilippis, Angilina Rosato and Elena Tribuzio; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 7th at 9 a.m. from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Joseph R.C. Church, North Plainfield. Interment will be in St. Marys Stony Hill Cemetery, Watchung. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
