Obituary of Raymond Olszewski
Raymond Olszewski, age 100 died on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Green Brook Manor Nursing Home, Green Brook. He was born in Yonkers, NY and had lived in Harrison, Linden, North Plainfield and Bricktown before moving to Green Brook. One of his first jobs was operating a trolley car in Harrison, NJ. After that, he delivered milk using a horse and wagon. He said the horse knew the route so well, that after each delivery, the horse was waiting for him at the next stop. He later became the Shop Steward at Bordens Milk after organizing the local 690 Union. He was a very active member of St. Stanislaus Church in Plainfield, the Dunellen Chapter of the Knights of Colombus and a member and past President of the Polish Falcons. He enjoyed taking care of his home, raising canaries, playing cards and growing vegetables that he shared with his neighbors. Mr. Olszewski is survived by his daughter, Marian Fischer, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 20th from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a graveside service at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
