Obituary of Donald M. Oborne

Donald M. Oborne, age 86, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at Berkeley Heights Convalescent Center. He was born in Windsor, Canada and grew up in New Hampshire. He later moved to New Jersey, settling in Dunellen. He then moved to Ocala, FL where he lived for 22 years before returning to New Jersey where he lived in Stirling for 3 years. Mr. Oborne served in the Air Force during World War II as a B52 Tail Gunner. Before his retirement in 1980, Mr. Oborne was a machinist for the Hyatt Roller Bearing division of General Motors in Clark. Prior to that, he was a self-employed machinist with Oborne Machine Co., which he owned with his 3 brothers. He enjoyed reading and watching sports. Mr. Oborne is predeceased by his wife, Mary Businda Oborne in 1987. He is survived by his sons, Bob Oborne and his wife Carol of Elliottsburg, PA and Wayne Oborne and his wife, Mary of Watchung; his brother, Alfred Oborne of Wayne, NY; his sisters, Amy Chamblee of Stirling and Buddy Litchfield of Manchester, NJ. Also surviving are his grandchildren, John Oborne, David Oborne and Laura Oborne. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2005 at 12:00 P.M. at Lounsberry Meadow Apartments, 1449 Valley Rd., Stirling, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals.
