Obituary of Ruth Rubin

Ruth Rubin, beloved wife of the late Murray Rubin, daughter of the late Alice and Max Weiner, devoted mother to Amy Rubin, Barbara and Neal Schatz, loving grandmother to Stephen and Ming Schatz and great grandmother to Meredith Schatz, died on Tuesday, September 27, 2005. She enjoyed the love and friendship of many and gave generously of herself in a quiet, kind and gentle way. Mrs. Rubin was a graduate of New York University and did field work in the Henry Street Settlement House and the Institute for the Crippled and Disabled in New York City. She taught nursery school classes in Plainfield and Scotch Plains for 26 years. Together with her husband, they were one of the founding families of Temple Beth-El. In 1972, she donated a kidney to her brother Norman in an effort to prolong his life. She will continue to live on in the hearts of family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 30, 2005 at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY with Rabbi Moshe Samber officiating. The family will be sitting shiva at the Rubin residence in Plainfield. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the New Jersey Division of the Blind and Handicapped, 2300 Stuyvesant Ave., Trenton, NJ 08608 or to the Center for Hope Hospice 1900 Raritan Ave, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076. Arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, 461 Somerset Street, North Plainfield, NJ 07060.
