Obituary of Richard D. Rhodes

Richard D. Rhodes, age 78, died on Thursday October 6th at home. Mr. Rhodes was born in Freeport, Long Island and had lived in North Plainfield for over 40 years. He was a mechanical engineer for Lockheed Electronics in Watchung for over 30 years, retiring in 1990. He was an avid sailor and owned a Catalina 22 sailboat which he sailed out of the Keyport Yacht Club in the Raritan Bay. He was a former member of the Short Hills Ski Club and was a former volunteer for the North Plainfield Rescue Squad. His two brothers Walter C. and William Rhodes predeceased him. Surviving are a dear friend Deborah P. Herbert of West Orange and a nephew Charles Rhodes of Chicago, Ill. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals 461 Somerset Street, North Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. There will be visiting hours at the funeral home Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Plainfield Rescue Squad, 334 Somerset Street, North Plainfield, NJ 07060.
