Obituary of Maura E. Sweeney

Maura E. (Geary) Sweeney, 59 died on Monday, November 28, 2005 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. She was born in Manhattan, was raised in Brooklyn and had lived in Rockville Centre, Long Island for 14 years before moving to Bridgewater in 1987. Mrs. Sweeney was a nurse for Genesis Elder Care in Morristown. She dedicated her life to caring for the sick and elderly. Mrs. Sweeney was an avid reader who enjoyed cooking, painting and crewel work. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament church in Martinsville. Surviving are her husband, Walter Sweeney; her son, Tommy Sweeney; her daughters, Deirdre Ryan and Maggie Sweeney and her brother, Sean Geary. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3rd at 9:00 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Resurrection at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1st from 2-4 & 7-9 and on Friday, December 2nd from 2-4 & 7-9.
