Obituary of Jospeh Edward Curran
North Plainfield: Joseph E. Curran, age 80, died on Saturday December 3, 2005 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Mr. Curran was born in Tacoma Park, MD and had resided in Plainfield before moving to North Plainfield in 1955. Prior to retiring in 1987 Mr. Curran worked for 13 years as a Comptroller for Fleet Street, in Iselin. He is a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army Air Core. He later joined the Air Force reserves in 1946. Mr. Curran graduated from Ryder College in 1951 with a BS in Accounting. He was a communicant of St. Josephs R.C. Church in North Plainfield. From 1977 to 1989, Mr. Curran was a member of the North Plainfield Board of Education having served as president from 1986 to 1989. He was also a very active member of the Plainfield Elks. He coached many of his childrens sports teams including little league, basketball, and many others. Mr. Curran was an avid bowler and golfer. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Lola (Lamperti) Curran of North Plainfield; two sons Steven Joseph Curran of North Plainfield and Michael A. Curran of North Plainfield; a daughter Patricia Curran of Manhattan, NY. He is also survived by four grandchildren Jonathon, Sara, Timothy, and Anna Rose. Funeral Services will be held at 8:45 am on Wednesday December 7th, 2005 at Higgins Home for Funerals 461 Somerset St. North Plainfield NJ 07060 followed by a 9:30 am Funeral Mass at St. Josephs R.C. Church in North Plainfield. Interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
