Obituary of Gregory F. Blatz
Gregory F. Blatz, age 41, died on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. He was born in Boston, MA and had lived in Westfield for many years. Mr. Blatz graduated from the Taft School in Watertown, CT and received a BA degree from Tulane University where he received a William J. Fulbright Scholarship to intern in the office of then Representative, Matthew Rinaldo of New Jersey. After graduation, he taught history at the Middle School of Friends Academy, Locust Valley, NY. During the summers, he was a head counselor at the Cape Cod Sea Camps in Brewster, MA. After 3 years of teaching, he went to Wall Street where he was employed by Nikko Securities for several years and most recently, he was a government bond trader at the firm of Lynch, Jones & Ryan in NYC. He is predeceased by his mother, Joan Potter Blatz in 2003. Mr. Blatz is survived by his former wife, Katherine A. Blatz and their 4 children, Caroline F. Blatz, James M. Blatz, Margaret P. Blatz and William B. Blatz, all of Westfield, NJ; his brother, Eric S. Blatz of Hoboken, NJ and his father, Frank H. Blatz, Jr. of Scotch Plains. There will be a Memorial Gathering on Sunday, January 15th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung. The Memorial Service will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Westfield followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a charitable organization of your choice in his memory would be appreciated.
