Obituary of Millicent N. Ard
Millicent N. (McCrann) Ard, the wife of retired Superior Court Judge John L. Ard died on Saturday January 28th at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Mrs. Ard was born in Elizabeth, and had lived in Martinsville since 1997 formerly of Scotch Plains and Springfield. She attended St. Patricks High School in Elizabeth and then graduated from All Souls Nursing School in Morristown. After raising 11 children she went back to school and received her undergraduate degree in school nursing from Jersey City State College and a Masters degree in Counseling from Kean University in Union. She was later employed at Chatham Borough High School as a school nurse and heath teacher retiring in 1985. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church in Martinsville, NJ. Surviving are her husband Judge John L. Ard; eight daughters, Kathleen Pankratz and her husband John of Westfield, Maureen Anglim and her husband John of Scotch Plains, Marguerite Fitzgerald and her husband Patrick of Summit, Elizabeth Ard of Basking Ridge, Patricia Rockland and her husband Michael of Morristown, Ann Rossi and her husband Frank of Scotch Plains, Jane Wilson and her husband John of Summit, and Eileen Moore and her husband Charles of Basking Ridge; three sons, John L. Ard Jr. M.D. and his wife Jessie and Peter Charles Ard of N.Y.C. and Thomas More Ard and his wife Laura of San Antonio, TX; also surviving are 24 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 31st at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung at 9:15 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
