Obituary of Lois G. Reese
Lois Reese, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend was born in Pawleys Island, South Carolina on August 20, 1928. Lois graduated from Allen University in South Carolina. Years later, she met and married Willie Mack Reese of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. In 1968, Lois and Willie moved their family to Plainfield, New Jersey where her love of life, commitment to their family and friends was evident in her profession and life. Lois was an elementary school teacher for 34 years, before retiring from the Newark Public School system. Throughout her long career, she instilled the love of learning in many children as well as developing many, many life long friends, such as Dulce and Nora. Lois, affectionately known as Mommy and Grammy possessed a warm, giving, friendly spirit that was evident in everything she did. She was a fantastic cook who would make you a special dish seasoned with love and call you to make sure you got it while it was hot. Lois could often be found in the aisles of Lord and Taylors Department store shopping away. The arrival of sale coupons was definitely the start of a good day. Lois also loved church bus rides, religious plays and playing cards with her friend, Catherine. However, her greatest joy was laughing and spending time with her family. On Wednesday, February 1st , Lois left this world joining those who went before her, her husband of 48 years, Willie, her son, William in 2003, her parents Washington and Viola Brown, 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Lois is the eternally cherished mother of Michael Reese of Glen Burnie, Maryland; daughter and son-in-law, Pelma Reese Widgeon and Kenneth Widgeon of Plainfield, New Jersey; Christopher Reese of Spring Lake, Missouri and Choi Reese of Edison, New Jersey; daughters-in-laws, Shari Scott Reese of Bloomfiled,New Jersey and Laurel Gibson of Plainfield, New Jersey. Also left to mourn are brothers, Benjamin Martin, William Brown and the Right Reverand Richard Martin; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
