Obituary of Edward L. Barry

Entrepreneur, educator, philosopher, and renowned big game fisherman Edward L. Barry, Sr,. age 80, died on Tuesday, February 14, 2006. He was born and raised in Dunellen and had lived in Bound Brook before moving to Warren 17 years ago. Mr. Barry was a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy in the Armed Guard Division being stationed on the SS Little Big Horn and the SS Michael Moran. Prior to founding the Bread Basket Deli in Somerville, he worked at Singer Diehl in Manville as a production supervisor. Mr. Barry was a Communicant at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed traveling to Hawaii to visit his son. Mr. Barry also loved spending time with his grandchildren, Kate and Matthew Micucci and Laura and Brian Gove. He is predeceased by his wife, Gloria Sferra Barry in 1997, and his sisters, Lee Anzovino and Vera Franzyshen and his brother Joseph Barry. His family includes his son, Edward Barry, Jr. and his wife Audrey of Kona, Hawaii; his daughters, Lynne Micucci and her husband Mike of Nazareth, PA and Kathleen Gove and her husband Tom of Warren; his brother Leo Barry of Jamesburg, NJ; his sister Eileen Mahler of Brick, NJ, and his grandchildren, Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Friday February 17th, 2006 at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ 07069 followed by a 10:00 am funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
