Obituary of Jerry B. Loizeaux

Jerry Blair Loizeaux, 80, died on Monday, February 20, 2006 surrounded by his family in Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ. Born in Plainfield, NJ, he lived in Watchung, Pennsylvania and returned to North Plainfield in 1961 before moving to Morris County. Mr. Loizeaux was a graduate of North Plainfield High School and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943, honorably discharged in 1946 and was awarded the American Theater Medal, Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal. His business career began by working with his father at Loizeaux Hardware Store, then as a paint salesman for BPS Paint Co. In 1961 he worked at P & L Paint Co. for 28 years, retiring as Regional Vice President. He was a longtime member of Wilson Memorial Union Church, Watchung where he served as Sunday School teacher, Board member, as well as overseeing the the Manse and working with Volunteers in caring for the church. Mr. Loizeaux was a member of the Valley Players of Watchung, the Watchung Volunteer Fire Department, the Optimist Club of Watchung and a member of the U-Go-I-Go Club. Mr. Loizeaux is survived by his loving wife, Betty of 58 years. Also surviving are his 3 daughters, Jennifer L. Dunsavage and her husband Edward of Ashland, Oregon, Claudia L. Stillwaggon and her husband Jack of Basking Ridge, NJ and Andrea L. Davis and her husband of Olympia, WA. He is also survived by his four grandchildren and close cousin Oscar T. Smith and his wife Dagmar. Mr. Loizeaux is predeceased by his parents and sister. Viewing will be held on February 23, 2006 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung from 2-4 & 7-9. A memorial service will be held on February 24, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Wilson Memorial Union Church with Reverands J. Ronald Miller and Barbara Peters officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wilson Memorial Union Church, 7 Valley Road, Watchug, NJ 07069 or to the charity of your choice.
