Obituary of Thomas H. Importico

Thomas H. Importico, age 93 died on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. He was born in Plainfield and had lived most of his life in North Plainfield. Prior to his retirement in 1977, Mr. Importico was a Custodial Engineer for Mount St. Marys Academy in Watchung for 30 years. He was a communicant of St. Josephs Church in North Plainfield. He loved all sports especially the Yankees. Mr. Importico is predeceased by his first wife, Margaret DiDomenico Importico in 1963 and his brothers, Frank Importico in 1998 and Louis Importico in 2002. Surviving are his wife, Maria DiDario Importico; his sons, Nicholas Importico and his wife Lisa of NJ, Thomas Importico, Jr. and his wife Karen of VA and Joseph Importico and his wife Carol of FL; his daughter, Jeannette Kurlansik of NM; his brother, Nicholas Importico and his wife Julia; his sisters, Carmela Importico and Lucy DeFillipo and her husband Vincent and his sister-in-law, Kathleen Importico. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2006 at 9:15 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung followed by a 10:00 am funeral mass at St. Josephs RC Church in North Plainfield. Interment will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9.
