Obituary of Sr. Mary Celestine Palz

Sister Mary Celestine, 91 died on Saturday, February 02, 2013 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center in Watchung, NJ. Sister Mary Celestine was born in Trenton and received her education with the Sisters of Mercy at Saint Mary Grammar School and Cathedral High, both in Trenton and then entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1940. She received a BS degree in Elementary Education from Georgian Court College in Lakewood and began her teaching career. Sister taught for more than 50 years, teaching in Our Lady of Victories School, Sayreville; St Francis Cathedral School, Metuchen; St Joseph School, Trenton; St Elizabeth School, Bernardsville; St Ann School, Keansburg; St. Philip and James School, Phillipsburg and St James School, Red Bank. She believed that the children wanted to learn and she loved teaching. Sister Celestine had a special love and care for children in need. After many fulfilling years in education, Sister Mary Celestine retired to McAuley Hall Health Care Center where she continued her ministry of prayer and hospitality and a great kindness to the dedicated staff. She is survived by her brother, Edwin Palz , niece Christine Bowling, an extended and devoted loving family, Peter and Connie Karadimas and many Sisters of Mercy in the Mid-Atlantic Community. Visitation will take place at McAuley Hall Health Care Center 1633 Highway 22 Watchung, NJ on Wednesday February 6, 2013, Wake from 9:00 to 11:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Saint Mary Cemetery, Trenton. Memorial Contributions may be made to Sisters of Mercy Mid-Atlantic Community 1645 Highway 22, Watchung, NJ 07069
