Obituary of Alvin Wild
Mr. Alvin Wild, 77, died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Robert Wood Johnson at Rahway. Born in Plainfield, he resided there for many years before moving to Scotch Plains where he lived until 1964 when he moved to South Plainfield. Prior to retiring in 1998, Alvin was employed for over 15 years as a salesman for H. H. Brown Shoe Company in New York City. He served in the U S Army during the Korean War. Mr. Wild was a member of the former Temple Beth El in Plainfield and was presently a member of Temple Beth Israel in Scotch Plains. He attended Middlesex County College for cooking classes, was a member of the NJ Jazz Society and the American Legion Chaumont Post No. 243 in South Plainfield. Alvin was a string bass and tuba player who enjoyed jazz music, particularly Dixieland. He liked photography, and loved cooking for everyone, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. His sister, Selma Wild predeceased him in 1993. Surviving are his wife, Ina E. Karetnick Wild, a son, Scott M. and his wife Priscilla of Oakland, CA, two daughters, Jodi M. Neiper and her husband Carl of Piscataway and Cara M. Harms and her husband Rich of Union, a brother Jack Wild of Palm Coast, FL, a sister, Frances Brown of Westfield and seven grandchildren, Danny, Corey and Carly Neiper, Samuel and Sarah Wild and Caitlyn and Jordan Harms. He also leaves behind his Doberman Banjo. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 19 at 10:00 am at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West Eighth Street with Rabbi Moshe Samber officiating followed by interment at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association, 200A Cottontail Lane, Somerset, NJ 08873 would be appreciated.
