Obituary of James Matthew Caffrey

North Myrtle Beach S.C.: Mr. James M. Caffrey died on Friday March 17th 2006 at the Union Hospital in Elkton, MD. Mr. Caffrey was born in Newark NJ and had resided in Union, Chatham and Colorado before moving to Millington in 1970. In 1986 he moved to Warren, where he lived until moving to North Myrtle Beach S.C. in 2000. Prior to retiring in 1994 Mr. Caffrey was a director for Bell Labs/ Lucent Technologies in Whippany, NJ having worked for them for 32 years. Mr. Caffrey served in the United States Navy for two years on the F.T. Berry Destroyer. He received his B.S. in business administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1968. He was a former member of the St. Vincent DePaul Church in Stirling and enjoyed traveling and watching sports especially the NY Mets and Giants. He is survived by two sons Timothy Caffrey and his wife Robin of Basking Ridge and Daniel Caffrey of Hillsborough; three daughters Colleen Pepe and her husband Louis of Stirling, Tracey Ant and her husband Todd of Gillette, and Kerry Mastriano and her husband Christopher of Flemington; his mother Edythe Caffrey of Fort Lauderdale FL; a brother Peter Caffrey of Gardner KS; his long time companion Corrine Decicco and her children Carrie and Richard. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am on Wednesday March 22, 2006 at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ 07069, followed by a 9:30 am funeral mass at St. James R.C. Church in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
