Obituary of Shirley Meyers

Mrs. Shirley Zall Stess Meyers, age 101 died on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Mrs. Meyers was born in Lund, Sweden and immigrated to the United States in 1921. There she met and married Mack Steskovitz and he died after 25 years of marriage. Mrs. Meyers then remarried and lived in Florida for a while before moving in with her daughter Roberta in Metuchen. Mrs. Meyers was an avid reader but really enjoyed spending time with her family. She is predeceased by her husband, Mack (Steskovitz) Stess in 1952 and her daughter-in-law, Nancy Stess in 1997. Mrs. Meyers is survived by her son, Ralph Stess of Monroe; her two daughters, Beatrice Fletcher of CA and Roberta Swerdloff of Metuchen; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24th at 10:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield with Rabbi Moshe Samber officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin.
