Obituary of Harry J. Meller

Harry J. Meller, 76, died Friday, March 31, 2006 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Plainfield, he was a lifelong resident. Harry began his career as a butcher at his fathers company, E. Meller & Sons in Warren in the early 1950s. Later joined by his brother Edward, they retired less than a year ago. Mr. Meller was an exempt member of the Mt. Bethel Fire Department in Warren, a life member of the Watchung Hills Elks Lodge # 2252, a member of the American Legion Post # 293 in Warren and the VFW Post # 6588 in Martinsville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. His daughter Carol Meller predeceased him in 1992. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Barbara Kuhn Meller; a son, William J. Meller and his wife Kathleen of Warren; a brother, Edward Meller and his wife Elizabeth of Cola, Iowa and two grandchildren, Daniel and Jennifer Meller. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 am at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by a 10 am funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Mount R.C. Church in Warren and interment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Donations in his memory to the Mt.
