Obituary of Dorothy Evelyn Bowden

Evelyn Grosch Bowden, age 77, died Sunday April 30, 2006, peacefully at her home after a long illness. Born and raised in Plainfield, she resided in Bridgewater before moving to Berkeley Heights three years ago. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Martinsville serving as the church secretary and member of U.M.W., during the 1970s. Mrs. Bowden was a Legal Secretary in Raritan for 10 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed doing crafts, quilting, sewing, embroidery and spending time with her grandchildren in her spare time. Mrs. Bowden is predeceased by her son Walter Donald Bowden in 1974. Surviving are her husband Walter Bowden; her son, Rick Bowden and his wife Doreen of Berkeley Heights; her daughter, Suzanne Lathrop and her husband Rick of Bridgewater. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Nicholas Bowden, Perrin Lathrop, Molly Lathrop and Will Lathrop. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 3, at 12:00 noon at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
