Obituary of Maria Del Carmen Fernandez

Maria Del Carmen Fernandez, age 81, died on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Mrs. Fernandez was born in the Dominican Republic and came to the United States in 1962 and settled in Florida. Then in 1972 she moved to Plainfield and lived there for 20 years before residing in North Plainfield in 1992. She worked for Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in housekeeping for over 20 years retiring in 1990. She is a communicant of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Plainfield. Maria loved cooking, sewing and drawing. She prayed and read the bible everyday and attended mass regularly. Mrs. Fernandez is predeceased by her parents, Felix Fernandez and Amelia Polanco; her husband, Manuel Ramos; 4 brothers, Tulio, Jose, Manuel and Carlito Fernandez; and 2 sisters, Fella Fernandez and Lolin Brito. She is survived by her son, Manuel Fernandez Ramos of North Plainfield; her sister, Munda Fernandez of Dominican Republic and three grandchildren, Emanuel T., Thomas E. and Diane A. Ramos. The funeral will be held on Monday, May 8th at 9 a.m. from Higgins Home for Funerals, 461 Somerset Street, North Plainfield followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Plainfield. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
