Obituary of Charles H. Van Liew

Plainfield: Charles Henry Van Liew transitioned this life suddenly on May 17, 2006 at the St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. Born in New Brunswick, NJ on August 31, 1949 to the union of Charles Dudley Van Liew and his wife, the late Annie nee Eato. Charles spent his youth and early adult years in New Brunswick where he graduated from high school before continuing his studies at Middlesex County College. He worked as a salesperson, a real estate investor and lastly as a Security Officer for Rutgers University in New Brunswick. On December 30, 1972, Charles wed Felisa Villarin, originally from Jacksonville, FL. They made their home in Plainfield, NJ. To this union, an only son, Kevin Charles was born. The Van Liews attended St. Marks Episcopal Church in Plainfield for many years and later, St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Montclair. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Dennis Van Liew and his mother. In addition to his wife and son, Charles is survived by his father, Charles Dudley Van Liew of North Brunswick; his sisters, Linda Agosta (Jose) of North Brunswick, Diane Lane (William) of Piscataway and Cathy Van Liew Thompson (Rudolph) of North Brunswick. Also surviving are his in-laws, Felix Villarin (Gloria) of Savannah, GA and Irma Telfair of Amelia Island, FL; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 22nd at 10 a.m. in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 73 S. Fullerton Avenue, Montclair (973-744-6220). Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery of Samptown in South Plainfield. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, Plainfield.
