Obituary of William Brown
William Brown, 84 died on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. He was born in New York City, NY and had lived in Summit before moving to Westfield in 1952. Mr. Brown served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was a radio engineer for WVNJ radio station in Livingston for over 30 years. Mr. Brown was very active in the VFW and American Legion organizations in Westfield. He helped them in arranging their Memorial Day Parade. He also spent a lot of his free time making sure that over 200 veterans were registered at the VA Lyons Hospital. He was an amateur ham radio operator with call letters K2HER. He loved going to flea markets and yard sales. He is predeceased by his sister, Selma Rosenbaum. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Frances Wild Brown; his son, Harold (Hal) Brown and his wife, Kathy Johnson; his daughters, Sheila Brown and her husband, Robert Serna and Janice Kyle Brown; his brother, Elmer Brown and 2 grandchildren, Lauren and Stephanie Brown. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St., Plainfield with Rabbi Moshe Samber officiating, followed by the interment at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge.
