Obituary of Anita L. Ruth

Anita L. (Hester) Ruth, age 84, died on Friday February 8, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Born and raised in East Orange, Mrs. Ruth had resided in Maplewood and Plainfield before moving to Piscataway 30 years ago. Mrs. Ruth received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Bloomfield College in Bloomfield. Prior to her retirement Mrs. Ruth worked for many years as a pre-school teacher for various schools, finishing her career as the branch manager for the Piscataway Head Start Program in Edison. She was a member and former deacon of the United Presbyterian Church in Plainfield. Mrs. Ruth enjoyed gardening but would best be remembered for her lifelong love of educating children. She is predeceased by her husband Sidney Herman Ruth in 2009. Surviving are a son Joao-Pierre, two daughters Crystal and Melody. She is also survived by five grandchildren Rutger, Joshua, Justin, Jaiden and Jordynn. A funeral service will be held on Saturday February 16, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Plainfield, a viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00-10:00 a.m. The interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, NJ. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St., Plainfield NJ.
