Obituary of Henry A. Izzard

Henry Adolphus Izzard, 91 of Plainfield, NJ, died on June 16th at Norwood Terrace Nursing Home. A Memorial Service will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church, East Front Street, Plainfield, NJ on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. Mr. Izzard was born in Rock Hill South Carolina in 1914. The son of a farmer and preacher, he graduated in 1937 from Friendship Junior College, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Mr. Izzard began a long and extensive domestic career beginning on Long Island in 1942. He later moved with the Tyler family to Evergreen Avenue, Plainfield, NJ where he worked for 19 years. He joined the Lane family in 1961 working for Dr. & Mrs. George Lane of Hillside Avenue. Mr. Izzard remained with the Lane family for 37 years until his retirment in 1998. Mr. Izzard was an avid listener and aficionado of Jazz, Classical music and Opera. He spent many years attending Organ recitals in the great churches of New York City including Saint John the Devine, Saint Thomas and St. Patrick's Cathedral. He loved gardening, reading and cooking fine foods. A member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, East Front Street, Plainfield, NJ, Mr. Izzard was active in the Mid Week Bible Study program and the Men's Bible Breakfast. Surviving is his sister, Minnie Praylow of Suitland, MD, a nephew Delancey Praylow of Clinton, MD, nieces Charmeine Praylow, Annette Chisollm and Janice James.
