Obituary of Rowena E. Tabbs

Mrs. Rowena E. Tabbs, age 94, died on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at her home. Born in Westfield, to the late Clarence Tabbs and Margarite Cooper, Rowena had lived in New York City before residing in Plainfield for the past 45 years. Mrs. Tabbs worked for the Plainfield High School in their cafeteria for 17 years retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Jehovahs Witness in Plainfield. She loved crocheting, making afghans, ironing, cooking and cleaning homes. She loved spending time with her family and traveling with them to Bermuda. She is predeceased by her husband, William L. Jackson, Sr., her brother, Harlis King and her sister, Madeline Waithe. She is survived by her son, William L. Jackson, Jr. of CT; her brother Gordon King of Phila, PA; her sister Adelaide Robertson of Plainfield; two grandchildren, Ramona and Damon; 12 nieces and nephews, Terrence Robertson, Sr., Rasheenah Robertson, Shareenah Robertson, Terrence Robertson, Jr., Lorrin Beachum, Margaret Giles, Dorothy Green, Jacqueline Green, Randolph Jackson, Robert Jackson, Jr., Rodney Jackson and Joan Porter; 5 great nieces, Tiffany and Meka Beachum, Shareeka Clark, Shayla and Sharlita Giles; 2 great nephews, Yasim and Sean Beachum, and a host of other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 24th at 11 a.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield. Visitation will be on Friday, June 23rd from 5-9 p.m. in the funeral home. Cremation is private.
