Obituary of Francis Andrew Poltorak

Francis Andrew Poltorak, age 81, died on Sunday June 25, 2006 at Health South Specialty Hospital of Union. Mr. Poltorak was born and raised in Somerville, NJ and had lived in North Plainfield for 53 years. Prior to his retirement he was a service technician with Bell Atlantic in Plainfield for 40 years. He was also a member of IBEW Local 827. Mr. Poltorak was a Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Mr. Poltorak was a parishioner of St. Joseph R.C. Church in North Plainfield, and belonged to the Nocturnal Adoration Society of St. Joseph. He was a member of the English Setter Association of America and the Hudson English Setter Club. Francis loved to read, especially Civil War History, he enjoyed organic gardening, loved nature and his English Setter dogs. During his youth he was an Eagle Scout. Surviving are his wife of 53 years Margaret Jean (Schenck) Poltorak; his son Mark Francis Poltorak and his wife Rose of Dunellen; his daughters Margaret Mary Poltorak Keyes and her husband Timothy Paul of North Plainfield and Anne Therese Poltorak of North Plainfield. Also surviving are his three grandchildren Nicholas, Jaclyn and Mark. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 29th, at 9:15 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Joseph R.C. Church, North Plainfield. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Stony Hill Cemetery, Watchung. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
