Obituary of Steven W. Amato
Steven W. Amato, age 48, died Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Born in Jersey City, he was raised in Guttenberg and had lived in Clifton before moving to North Plainfield 9 years ago. Mr. Amato received his Bachelors Degree from Jersey City State University in 1980, a Masters of Science from NJIT and Executive MBA from Rutgers in 2004. For the past 8 years, Mr. Amato was a Director of Nail Enamel Research & Development for Coty, Inc. in Morris Plains. He was a member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and the American Chemical Society. Throughout his career, he had his name on several patents for nail polish. He was a Communicant of St. Josephs R.C. Church in North Plainfield. He loved skiing and the outdoors. Mr. Amato was predeceased by his father, Deacon Stephen Amato in 1980. Surviving are his wife, Mary (Havay) Amato; his son, Andrew Amato of North Plainfield; his mother, Barbara (Herrling) Amato Venezia and her husband Rocco of Clifton; his sister, Jean Jones of FL.; his step sister, Patricia Haggerty of CT.; his step-brothers, Christopher Venezia of Newton and Matthew Venezia of Washington Borough and his aunt, Elizabeth Hopkinson of Pittsford, NY. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18th at 9:45 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals. 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Josephs R.C. Church in North Plainfield. Cremation will be at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
